Overview
NR Engineering was engaged to position, align, connect and bring into service a new production line for an Irish manufacturer. Scope covered heavy lifting, alignment, support steel and process connections.
Scope of works
- Equipment positioning and alignment
- Bespoke support steel fabrication
- Process connections
- Coordination with OEM commissioning team
- Handover documentation
Challenges
The new equipment had to fit into an existing building with limited overhead clearance and tight tolerances on alignment with upstream and downstream equipment. The install had to be coordinated around continuing production on adjacent lines.
Solution
Our site team carried out a detailed pre-install survey to confirm dimensions and identify any clashes. Support steel was prefabricated in Drogheda and installed in advance of the equipment, allowing the OEM team to drop their equipment into a fully prepared environment.
Materials used
Fabrication process
All support steel was fabricated to EN 1090 standards in our workshop. Stainless process connections were prefabricated to suit the OEM tie-in points.
Installation process
Equipment was positioned with appropriate lifting gear, aligned with precision instruments and connected by ticketed welders and fitters. The OEM commissioning team was on site for final sign-off.

Results
The new line was commissioned on programme. The client used NR Engineering for a similar second-line installation the following year.
