Wastewater Treatment Engineering
Stainless and duplex fabrication, mechanical installation and access for Ireland's wastewater treatment plants — built for harsh corrosive environments.
Water Industry Engineering
Specialist wastewater treatment engineering — designed, fabricated, installed.
Wastewater treatment is one of the harshest environments any fabricator works in. Hydrogen sulphide, chlorides, abrasive sludges and constant wet/dry cycling chew through poorly specified or poorly fabricated steelwork. NR Engineering specialises in fabrications that survive — and serve — for the long term.
We supply stainless and duplex fabrications, mechanical installation services and access systems to wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations and overflow chambers across Ireland for utility, local authority and contractor clients.
Our approach is straightforward: specify the right material for the environment, fabricate it properly, install it properly, document everything. That's what keeps these assets working and our clients coming back.
Capabilities
What's included
316 and duplex fabrication
Specified for the most corrosive wastewater process environments.
Walkway and access systems
Open-mesh walkways, handrails, ladders and platforms throughout the works.
Process pipework
Hygienic and process pipework welded by coded welders.
Mechanical installation
Pump positioning, screen installation and process equipment fit-out.
Confined-space competent
Experienced and equipped for safe confined-space working.
Shutdown delivery
Comfortable working inside short planned outage windows.
How we deliver
From survey to handover
Step 1
Site & process review
Understand the asset, the process and the access constraints.
Step 2
Fabrication design
Design and material selection appropriate to the process environment.
Step 3
Workshop fabrication
Welded by coded welders in Drogheda with full QA.
Step 4
Site install
Installed by Safe Pass, confined-space-competent crews.
Typical applications
Where we apply this work
- Wastewater treatment plant fabrication
- Inlet works and screening
- Activated sludge plant access
- SBR and MBR plant access
- Sludge handling fabrications
- Wet well and pumping station access
We've worked across wastewater treatment plants serving large urban areas and small rural villages. The fundamentals don't change: get the materials right, get the welds right, get the access right, and document the lot.
Many of the calls we get on wastewater plants are to replace fabrications that didn't survive — usually galvanised carbon steel installed where stainless or duplex was needed. We will tell you up front if a job requires a more expensive material specification, because the cost of replacing it again in five years far exceeds the original saving.
FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Can't see your question? Call us on 087 253 7966 or email nreng1@gmail.com.
Why are duplex stainless steels used in wastewater?+
Duplex stainless steels combine high strength with very good resistance to chloride pitting and stress corrosion cracking, making them well suited to aggressive wastewater applications where 316 may be marginal.
Can you support a planned shutdown?+
Yes — we routinely deliver wastewater works inside planned outage windows, mobilising additional resources to compress the programme as required.
Do you handle installation as well as fabrication?+
Yes — we fabricate in our Drogheda workshop and install on site with our own crews, lifting equipment and Safe Pass certified operatives. One contractor, one point of accountability, from drawing board to handover.
How do I get a quote?+
Send drawings, specifications or a brief description by email to nreng1@gmail.com, or call/WhatsApp 087 253 7966. We'll review the scope and come back to you with pricing and a realistic lead time, usually within one working day.
What areas of Ireland do you cover?+
Our workshop is in Drogheda, Co. Louth and we work nationwide across Ireland — with regular projects in Louth, Meath, Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Wexford, Cavan, Monaghan and throughout Leinster. We also travel to Munster and Connacht for utility, water and industrial clients.
