Pumping Station Access Systems
Wet well ladders, kiosk access, handrails and walkways for water and wastewater pumping stations across Ireland.
Water Industry Engineering
Specialist pumping station access systems — designed, fabricated, installed.
Pumping stations — clean water booster stations and wastewater lift stations alike — need safe, compliant, durable access. NR Engineering fabricates wet well ladders, kiosk access, walkways and handrail systems for pumping stations throughout Ireland.
Wastewater environments are particularly harsh on materials. We typically specify 316 stainless or duplex steels for wet well access because galvanised carbon steel simply doesn't last in the sulphide-rich atmosphere of a wastewater wet well.
We work with utility, local authority and contractor clients to deliver access systems that pass HSA inspection, support safe confined-space working and serve the asset for decades.
Capabilities
What's included
316 stainless wet well ladders
Specified for the corrosive atmosphere inside wastewater wet wells.
Davit and lifting brackets
Integrated lifting eyes, davit sockets and chain blocks for safe pump retrieval.
Handrail systems
Top-slab handrails to prevent open-edge falls into the wet well.
Kiosk access
External access ladders for kiosk-mounted control panels and instrumentation.
Walkway gratings
Open-mesh walkway grating for safe access across the wet well slab.
Confined space access
Access systems designed to support compliant confined-space entry procedures.
How we deliver
From survey to handover
Step 1
Survey
Attend the pumping station, measure the wet well and kiosk arrangement.
Step 2
Design
Drawings issued for client and operator review.
Step 3
Workshop fabrication
Stainless welded and fitted in Drogheda with full traceability.
Step 4
Install & handover
Installed with permit-to-work compliance and operator-side handover.
Typical applications
Where we apply this work
- Wastewater lift stations
- Stormwater pumping stations
- Booster pumping stations
- Sewer overflow chambers
- Wet well rescue access
- Pump removal davit and lifting installations
Wet wells are arguably the most hostile environment we fabricate for. The combination of confined-space risk, hydrogen sulphide attack on metals and difficult retrieval procedures means corner-cutting on materials and design has very real safety consequences.
Our pumping station packages are designed with the asset operator in mind — pumps need to come out for maintenance, instruments need to be reachable, and the people who do that work need to come back up the ladder safely every time.
FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Can't see your question? Call us on 087 253 7966 or email nreng1@gmail.com.
Why not just use galvanised in a wet well?+
The sulphide-rich atmosphere inside a wastewater wet well attacks zinc rapidly. A galvanised ladder that would last 30 years on a roof can corrode through within a few years inside a wet well. 316 stainless or duplex is the correct specification.
Do you fabricate davit arms?+
Yes — fully certified davit arms with safe working load plate, integrated lifting brackets and supporting structure are part of our pumping station package.
Do you handle installation as well as fabrication?+
Yes — we fabricate in our Drogheda workshop and install on site with our own crews, lifting equipment and Safe Pass certified operatives. One contractor, one point of accountability, from drawing board to handover.
How do I get a quote?+
Send drawings, specifications or a brief description by email to nreng1@gmail.com, or call/WhatsApp 087 253 7966. We'll review the scope and come back to you with pricing and a realistic lead time, usually within one working day.
What areas of Ireland do you cover?+
Our workshop is in Drogheda, Co. Louth and we work nationwide across Ireland — with regular projects in Louth, Meath, Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Wexford, Cavan, Monaghan and throughout Leinster. We also travel to Munster and Connacht for utility, water and industrial clients.
