Water Industry Engineering

Specialist irish water ladders — designed, fabricated, installed.

NR Engineering provides specialist ladder and access fabrication for Ireland's water industry — including assets owned and operated by Uisce Éireann (Irish Water), local authorities and Irish Water framework contractors.

We understand the documentation, materials and hygienic-welding requirements that water industry projects demand. From service reservoirs and water treatment plants to pumping stations and intake works, every ladder is fabricated to suit potable water environments where they apply.

Whether you need a single replacement ladder on a rural service reservoir or a full package of access systems on a new treatment plant, we deliver to specification, with the documentation your client expects.

Capabilities

What's included

Hygienic stainless fabrication

304 and 316 stainless for potable water environments, TIG welded.

Full traceability

Material certificates, weld records and inspection reports as standard.

EN ISO 14122 compliant

Designed and fabricated to the fixed-ladder standard, with rest landings and safety cages.

Confined-space access ladders

Designed for safe entry to chambers, wet wells and reservoir tanks.

Framework experienced

Working knowledge of Irish Water framework documentation and quality requirements.

Bespoke per site

No two reservoir or pump station roof slabs are the same — every ladder is purpose-designed.

How we deliver

From survey to handover

  1. Step 1

    Site survey

Attend the asset, measure access points and review hygienic constraints.

  2. Step 2

    Design package

Fabrication drawings, material specs and method statements for client review.

  3. Step 3

    Workshop fabrication

Hygienic stainless or galvanised fabrication in our Drogheda workshop.

  4. Step 4

    Install & handover

Installed with full RAMS, permit-to-work compliance and inspection documentation.

Typical applications

Where we apply this work

  • Service reservoir access ladders
  • Water treatment plant ladders
  • Pumping station access
  • Wastewater treatment access
  • Intake works and screening chambers
  • Water tower and stand-pipe ladders

Water industry work is unforgiving. A poorly specified ladder on a service reservoir can compromise water quality, and a poorly installed one can fail an Irish Water site audit. We've built our reputation in this sector by getting the details right — hygienic welding, the right finish, the right inspection paperwork.

Our experience with Uisce Éireann framework contractors means we understand what's expected: O&M manuals, as-built drawings, inspection sign-off and a fabrication trail. We deliver all of it as part of the package.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Can't see your question? Call us on 087 253 7966 or email nreng1@gmail.com.

Do you work directly with Uisce Éireann (Irish Water)?+

We work as a specialist fabrication subcontractor to Irish Water framework partners and main contractors delivering capital and minor works across the network. We are happy to engage directly with the asset team where required.

What stainless grade do you use for potable water?+

Generally 304 is acceptable for potable water contact, but in chlorinated systems or where the asset is on the coast, 316 is specified for its better resistance to chloride attack.

Can you provide WIMES-equivalent documentation?+

Yes — we provide material certs, weld records, NCRs (if any), inspection records and as-built drawings to support the asset owner's O&M and audit requirements.

Do you handle installation as well as fabrication?+

Yes — we fabricate in our Drogheda workshop and install on site with our own crews, lifting equipment and Safe Pass certified operatives. One contractor, one point of accountability, from drawing board to handover.

What areas of Ireland do you cover?+

Our workshop is in Drogheda, Co. Louth and we work nationwide across Ireland — with regular projects in Louth, Meath, Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Wexford, Cavan, Monaghan and throughout Leinster. We also travel to Munster and Connacht for utility, water and industrial clients.
