Tank Access Ladders

Specialist tank ladders for water, process, chemical and storage tanks — fabricated and installed across Ireland by NR Engineering.

Industrial Access Systems

Specialist tank access ladders — designed, fabricated, installed.

Tank access ladders are one of NR Engineering's core specialities. We design, fabricate and install bespoke ladders for water storage tanks, process tanks, fuel tanks, chemical vessels and bulk storage silos across Ireland's utility, industrial and food and beverage sectors.

Every tank is different — diameter, height, top-of-shell detail, internal/external access, hygienic vs industrial environment. We treat each ladder as a custom engineering job, working from your tank drawings or a measured site survey.

Whether you operate a single reservoir tank in rural Louth or a tank farm in a Dublin process facility, we deliver tank ladders that meet EN ISO 14122-4, are finished for the environment, and install cleanly first time.

Capabilities

What's included

Internal & external tank ladders

Designed for top-fill access, hatch entry, confined-space entry or external inspection.

Stainless 304 / 316 / duplex

Hygienic grades for potable water and food contact, duplex for aggressive process environments.

Hot-dip galvanised steel

For external industrial tanks where galvanised carbon steel meets the spec.

Safety cages & rest landings

Integrated rest platforms and cages for tank heights above 3m where required.

Top-of-shell handrailing

We fabricate matching handrail systems, kickplates and inspection landings as part of the package.

Bespoke brackets

Tank-band, weld-pad or bolted bracket details to suit your tank manufacturer's requirements.

How we deliver

From survey to handover

  1. Step 1

    Tank survey

We measure the tank or work from manufacturer GA drawings.

  2. Step 2

    Design package

Fabrication drawings with bracket details issued for your sign-off.

  3. Step 3

    Fabrication

Welded by coded welders in our Drogheda workshop with full WPS and traceability.

  4. Step 4

    Install & sign-off

Installed by Safe Pass crews with as-built drawings and inspection certificate.

Typical applications

Where we apply this work

  • Potable water storage tanks (Uisce Éireann / Irish Water)
  • Reservoir and service reservoir access
  • Chemical and fuel storage tanks
  • Pharma and food-grade process tanks
  • Silo and bulk material storage
  • Wastewater treatment tank access

Tank ladders look simple on a drawing but the detail matters: bracket spacing matched to the tank shell, the right offset from the wall, hygienic welds where the ladder enters a potable water environment, and a finish that will survive 25+ years on the side of an exposed reservoir. We get these details right by treating every tank ladder as its own engineering exercise.

Because we fabricate in stainless and carbon steel in dedicated bays, we can package an entire tank top — ladder, cage, rest landing, handrails and a hatched landing — as a coordinated install rather than a series of mismatched parts from different suppliers.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Can't see your question? Call us on 087 253 7966 or email nreng1@gmail.com.

Can you weld brackets directly to a potable water tank?+

Yes, with the relevant approvals. We use approved hygienic welding procedures and material certificates suited to potable water contact, and coordinate with the tank manufacturer's warranty requirements.

What heights do you typically fabricate to?+

We fabricate tank ladders from short rooftop ladders of 1–2m up to multi-storey reservoir access ladders with intermediate rest landings every 6m, per EN ISO 14122-4.

Do you provide hot-dip galvanising?+

Yes — carbon steel ladders are hot-dip galvanised to ISO 1461 with our regular galvanising partners in Ireland.

Do you handle installation as well as fabrication?+

Yes — we fabricate in our Drogheda workshop and install on site with our own crews, lifting equipment and Safe Pass certified operatives. One contractor, one point of accountability, from drawing board to handover.

What areas of Ireland do you cover?+

Our workshop is in Drogheda, Co. Louth and we work nationwide across Ireland — with regular projects in Louth, Meath, Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Wexford, Cavan, Monaghan and throughout Leinster. We also travel to Munster and Connacht for utility, water and industrial clients.
